Privacy Policy

Introduction

CoParent Navigator ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and profile information — your name, email address, password (stored only in securely hashed form by our authentication provider), account role (parent, attorney, mediator), and timezone.
  • Plan and case content — the parenting plans, clauses, schedules, notes, and documentation you create, including sensitive family details you choose to enter, such as your children's names, schedules, and needs. Be clear about who this reaches: plan content is shared with everyone on the case — that includes your co-parent, their lawyer, and any mediator — so treat anything you type into the plan as something they will read.
  • Your private safety answers — if you tell us about domestic violence, substance-use concerns, or a need for supervised time, those answers, and your starred non-negotiables and notes for your own counsel, are stored separately from the shared plan and are never shown to your co-parent or anyone else on the case. We use them only to suggest the protective sections your plan should contain and to prepare the documents you export yourself. We do not, however, hide your home address: the product has no address-shielding feature, so never type an address you need kept secret into a plan, message, or document.
  • Uploaded documents — files you attach to a case, stored in access-controlled storage readable only by you, the case members you invite, and our administrators.
  • Messages and collaboration data — case discussions, clause comments, proposed revisions, signatures, and the invitations you send to a co-parent, attorney, or mediator.
  • Purchase and billing records — which plan you bought, when, and its status. Your card number goes directly to our payment processor (Stripe) and never touches our servers.
  • Usage data — first-party analytics events (pages visited, features used), browser and device type, and metadata about AI feature usage (when and how much, not the content of your prompts). With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to count visits (see Cookies below); we never use it for advertising, and the page addresses we send to it are stripped of any invite tokens, case IDs, or other identifiers.
  • Marketing signups — your name, email, and role if you join the waitlist or subscribe to the newsletter.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve our services, communicate with you about your account or our services, and ensure the security of our platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

AI Features and Automated Processing

Some optional features use artificial intelligence to help you work faster, such as drafting suggested clause language, summarizing a plan, evaluating a plan for gaps, and extracting text from documents you upload. When you choose to use one of these features, the specific content needed for that request is sent to our AI processing providers, Anthropic and, as a fallback, OpenAI, to generate the response.

A few things we want you to know about how this works:

  • AI features run only when you trigger them. We do not send your information to an AI provider in the background.
  • Requests are sent through our own secure server, which holds the provider keys. Your request is tied to your signed-in account so we can enforce usage limits, and we keep a record of when AI was used and how much, but we do not store the content of your AI prompts in that record.
  • Under our agreements with these providers, the content you submit through our application is not used to train their models.
  • AI output is a starting point, not legal advice. Always review anything the AI produces, and have important documents reviewed by a licensed professional in your state.

If you would prefer not to have your information processed by these AI features, simply do not use them. The core planning tools work without AI.

Service Providers We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or social media tracking pixels. The only third parties that process your data are the service providers we use to run the platform, each limited to the purpose named here:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage. All app data listed above lives here, encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Netlify — hosts and serves the website itself, and receives the standard server logs (such as IP address) any web host does.
  • Stripe — processes payments. Your card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and handled entirely by Stripe; we receive only the purchase outcome, never your card number.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI — process the content of AI requests you explicitly trigger, as described in the AI section above. Not used for model training under our agreements.
  • PandaDoc — provides electronic signatures. When you sign a plan or clause, the document and your signer details are processed by PandaDoc to create the signed record.
  • Resend — delivers our emails (account notifications, invitations, and the newsletter), and receives your email address and the message content for that purpose.
  • Google Analytics — counts page visits so we can see which features help parents most, and only if you accept analytics cookies. It receives your device/browser type and the pages you visit (with identifiers such as invite tokens and case IDs removed), never your case content, and we do not use it for advertising.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can download a complete copy of your data at any time from your Profile page, and you can request account deletion there as well (or by emailing us). We act on verified deletion requests within 30 days. Because a case can be shared with another parent or a professional, some records you contributed to a shared case may be retained in that other person's case where we are legally permitted or required to preserve them — deleting your account never silently destroys someone else's signed agreement. We may also retain billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage for your sign-in session and preferences, and a first-party random identifier to count visitors. We do not use cookies for advertising. If you accept analytics cookies on our banner, we load Google Analytics to count visits; you can decline (and nothing third-party loads), and either way the choice is remembered on your device. We set no third-party cookies for any other purpose.

Children

CoParent Navigator is for adults (18+) and we do not knowingly collect information from children directly. Information about your children appears in the platform only as content you, their parent or guardian, choose to enter into your plan, and it receives the same protections as the rest of your case content.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You may also request that we restrict processing of your data or provide it in a portable format. Self-serve export and deletion live on your Profile page, or contact us at privacy@coparentnavigator.com. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
