About CoParent Navigator

We're building the tools that families going through separation deserve, structured, child-centered, and accessible to everyone.

Our story

CoParent Navigator started with my own divorce. I was a single mom navigating a complex situation that didn't reflect most custodial cases, and I wanted to be as informed as I possibly could. But when I went looking, the research and everything I found online didn't properly reflect what my family actually needed.

My lawyer was helpful, but I kept noticing the same thing: lawyers and mediators alike were using a one-size-fits-all approach, and they didn't have the time to thoroughly educate their clients. On top of that, it was expensive.

These are some of the hardest moments of our lives, and in the middle of them we're not always considering the long-term implications a plan can have on the next 18+ years, we're often not thinking clearly. And our children are right in the crosshairs of every one of these decisions.

So I kept asking: what if there were a tool that not only expedited the process, but made it easier for both parents and their lawyers to be more informed and more protected along the way? When it came to mediation, there was almost nothing to help you prepare beyond a checklist, and the few real options meant bringing mediators in for thousands of dollars.

Divorce is a $50-billion-a-year industry in the United States, by some estimates as high as $175 billion, fueled by what can be the hardest moments of a person's life. I wanted to truly make outcomes better for the families going through it, in every way possible, including financially. That's why CoParent Navigator exists.

The research behind the product

"Informed" isn't a slogan for us, it's how the product is built. The comprehensive clause library behind every plan is distilled from published research on child development and co-parenting: longitudinal studies of children after divorce, clinical work on high-conflict communication, and the developmental literature on overnights, step-up schedules, and new-partner introductions. Each clause carries expert notes explaining the reasoning, and our public research library profiles the 18 researchers and practitioners whose published work we draw on, so you can read the sources yourself.

The legal side is statute-first. We researched all 50 states plus D.C. and built a guideline pack for each: custody presumptions, relocation notice rules, parenting-plan content requirements and official forms, mediation and parent-education mandates, and child-support models, every claim tied to the statute or court rule it comes from. Because laws change, the packs are re-verified against current statutes on a monthly cycle, and anything we can't confirm is flagged as unverified instead of guessed.

Two honest caveats: the researchers we cite are referenced for their published work and are not affiliated with or endorsing CoParent Navigator, and our content is educational, it has not been reviewed by an attorney and is not legal advice.

Our values

Children come first

Every feature we build starts with one question: does this serve the best interests of the children involved?

Structure reduces conflict

When expectations are clear and agreements are detailed, there's less room for misunderstanding and dispute.

Accessibility matters

Not every family can afford extensive legal support. We believe structured planning tools should be available to everyone.

We are not attorneys

We don't provide legal advice and we never will. We build tools that complement the work of licensed family law professionals.

Privacy is non-negotiable

Family situations are deeply personal. We treat your data with the highest level of care and security.
